Initially from Montreal, we hardly new anyone in Ottawa and felt that the best way to find a Realtor was to visit open houses in the areas of interest and chat with various candidates hoping that someone would understand our desire to purchase, unlike so many out there, a “tired ” old house needing renovations and tender loving care. Since we had a rather bitter experience while searching for a home in Montreal, we noticed how the market as a whole requires “move in condition” and feared going through a bad experience again as our Realtor in Montreal was uninformative and basically would only tell us what she thought we wanted to hear. Further to talking with you while in Alta Vista we found a gentleman who not only understood our views but was/is in the one situation we hoped to be in some day: Renovating an old house to end up with not only a great investment but a home with character and charm. As a result from that conversation, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for working with us so diligently at finding a home in Ottawa. As you know, due to our situation with our renting an apartment since moving to Ottawa, it was primordial that we urgently find a house urgently that would suit our needs as well as our slim wallet. Your kindness in establishing a relationship with both of us as well as our son was greatly appreciated. We truly felt as if you took the time to better understood the kind of people we are in order to find the house best suited for our life style. Not only did you make the effort of getting to know us, you patiently waited along ourselves for the perfect house; the one we could call our home. We especially appreciated how you willingly showed homes that did not really fit our profile for the sake of helping us getting to know the Ottawa market and what is available for what moneys in the areas of interest. Because of the latter, now that we have purchased the home meant for us, we truly feel as if we made the right decision due to the knowledge we have accumulated through working alongside you for the past few months. Please know that we never expected finding a house so quickly and thank you for making us feel welcomed to work with you for as long as need be. Thank you so much for sharing our enthusiasm and going along with us putting such a ridiculous bid on a house we thought would be out of reach for us. Most Realtors would have considered our move a waste of time but you did not. You gave us your opinion, understood the reasons why we felt we should at least give it a try and shared our excitement once we heard the good news. What a bargain that was! As well, we must thank you for your taking us by the hand through the end by providing various referrals for the renovation of our home as well as taking us step by step on the closing and purchase of the home. Taking possession in November, we leave this experience with only good memories and are pleased we had the chance to work with a great Irishman like you (although ashamed to say that your last names pronunciation is still a mystery to us. Fortunately calling you “Dan” was easy enough even for our son). Now that the contractor is lined up and that the work is soon to begin, we can hardly imagine ever moving again but one never knows. We hope to keep in touch with our new Ottawa friend and keep the door open to further doing business with you in the future. Hoping to see more of you, feel free to stop by should you be in the neighbourhood or have a taste for Chinese food. We would love to see you once in a while and get your well valued opinion on the upgrades to our old beat up house soon to be such a lovely home. P.S. We are amazed at how you make yourself ALWAYS available and hope that your wife is a willing participant. Having met your little one once but fast asleep, we look forward to the day where we will meet both of them in a non work related event. We wish you the best of luck on your own renovation.
